Presentation of ideas to teachers

Today we presented our idea for our thriller film to our teachers, and it became apparent of the probles we are going to face if we go ahead with our current idea. Our idea is to open with a black screen where you can hear the wind, maybe some rustling of leaves, with eerie music in the background. This will slowly face into a view from a girls eyes, whos been injured and is either in her last few minutes of her life, or is waking up from a black out. We hope to make it look like shes blinking slowly, and use fades to show drowsiness, if possible make it fuzzy.  You will hear light breathing and begin to establish the setting through her point of view, also creating a relationship between the character and the audience to allow the audience to realize her pain. This will fade into a long shot of a girl lying limply on the floor of a forest or field, and slowly zoom to show a stab wound in her stomach and end at a close up of her face. The girl will be wearing a white dress to show her innocence and purity.
After presenting our idea to our teachers, they gave us suggestions as to how we can dramatically improve our film and presented the challenges we would face going ahead with some of our decisions. The main problem we faced was our outdoor setting. If we choose an outdoor location then we are faced with the problem of relying on the weather. If we have to reshoot any of our scenes then we are most likely going to have trouble with different weather and especially lighting, therefore it makes sense to now move our location indoors and come up with a better story, with easily controlled lighting. By using an indoor location, it also benefits us with our sound and having a level ground to film on. Using our research into lighting it makes it easier to create a darker room for a more tense atmosphere. This has really helped us see the changes that need to be made in our film and help improve our work.
