Planning Stage- Brainstorm

We are now beginning our planning, we began to create a brainstorm about the storyline, music, titles, characters and locations. However we had to ensure that our ideas weren't too cliche and that they were original and not too complicated.
We came up with the idea that we could go against the 'norm' and have a female antagonist and a male protagonist, however we think this could be difficult to execute to a good enough standard.
A murder would be too cliche. so we came up with the idea of a flashback. On the other hand, we only have two minutes to fit in a title sequence and a bit of footage, therefore I think we should stick to something simple.
The music in this thriller must build up tension throughout the clip. However silence in some places to hear the diegetic sound can also be quite intense to the audience. Normally music in thriller films consist of violins and pianos, but maybe happy music to contrast the screenplay would be interesting.
The locations available to us consist of our school, which can be quite limiting if we wish to film on weekends. A canal near Hannah's house, however this would be dependent on having the same weather everytime we need to re shoot so this may not be practical. The woods, which again is inpractial due to weather and also too cliche for a thriller film. And lastly our own houses in one room which sounds like the best option at the moment.
The titles to our film need to be simple and original, however we could include some animation in our text which could be interesting. Our main idea was to have a murder scene with flashing camera still shots with titles, however this could prove to be very difficult to execute.

So far, we have decided to go with the canal idea because despite the problem we could have with the weather, it leaves us with many open ideas to investigate into.
